Originally commissioned by the Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts, Musto's Volpone appears on The Wall Street Journal's "Best New Operas" list and was proclaimed "a masterpiece" by The Washington Post in 2004.

Three years later, an entirely new cast and production (directed by Peter Kazaras with Sara Jobin, conductor) has made its own mark, opening to a packed house and causing The Washington Post to proclaim that, "Truly funny operas, like Volpone, are rare these days. In a world that tends to regard comedies as second-class works of art, Volpone stands out not only for its humor but also its brilliant marriage of words and music."

Recorded live before an audience at the historic Barns at Wolf Trap, this recording captures all the humor and excitement  of the 2007 production.
